The idea behind the store is simple; I love Scrapbooking and Bead Work but hate to travel from one end of the state to another looking for supplies. I began to wonder why there was nothing available in Northeastern Connecticut when there are so many crafters in this area.
Sure, supplies are readily available by mail order and online; but crafters are very visual people, we want to see materials up close to get a true idea of color, texture, and quality. We also like instant gratification. We want it NOW!
So, after consulting with a few of my "crafty" friends, I decided that a Bead and Paper Craft store in town was long overdue.
The Inspiration Station opened its doors to the public on January 27, 2002 in a small building on Route 190 in Stafford Springs, CT. Within the first 2 weeks, I realized that this was going to be bigger than I ever expected and started looking for a larger location. As luck would have it, an opening came up in the same location but larger storefront and I moved across the parking lot in June of 2002.
At the same time, Jackie joined our staff as my "first" employee! Fresh out of high school, but eager to please her love of beads allowed me to concentrate more on the Scrapbooking & Rubberstamping side of the store.
Terry joined the staff when Jackie went off to college in the fall; although she returns every school break to do all of the jobs we put off. Terry has been scrapbooking since the birth of her son in 2000.
When we outgrew our 2nd location...in less than a year - we hired Donna to help us with the world of Rubberstamping and located an old building downtown that we could renovate and call home.
In September of 2003, we moved into our new home at 13 Furnace Ave. The building is well over 100 years old and has quite a colorful history. Our product lines have changed and grown throughout all of this; and you will always find a great (albeit ecletic) selection of products. Unfortunately, due to a lack of customer support for the beads, we had to stop selling them in February of 2007.
We hope that you will join us at our "home away from home" and discover for yourself some of the joys of being creative. Let our talented staff "inspire" your creativity!
